Fit Nutrition - Build a healthy diet that gives you freedom.

GRAINS, BREAD, CEREAL, CARBS

There are so many great grain products to incorporate into your diet. Be mindful that 90% of all grains produced have been produces using a genetically modified organism (GMO). Be sure to take the time to educate yourself on this newly merging controversy.

A SHORT LIST OF GREAT GRAINS

• Brown rice

• Gluten free oatmeal, old fashioned oats, steel cut oats

• Quinoa (KEEN-wa)

• Bulgar

• Millet

• Pastas made with brown rice

BREADS

Shoot for 100% whole grain bread products. If you are currently eating white bread try moving to one pc of white bread and one pc of wheat bread for your sandwich, then move to two pcs of wheat when your ready.

• Ezekiel brand products, muffins and breads

• Corn tortillas (avoid corn products if you have arthritis or joint issues, can cause inflammation)

• Sandwich Thins

• Wheat Wraps

You will not be judged for eating white bread, white rice or white pasta. It has had a lot of nutrition taken out of it, so as soon as you can start trying to move to more whole grain options.

I will mention that if you have a enlarged, swollen stomach, many of my clients have had fast shrinkage by eliminating wheat products and going with other gluten free products and grains instead. There are plenty of nutritious grains to be found that will satisfy you.

CRACKERS AND CHIPS

Everybody needs a crunchy snack now and then. Remember to choose wisely and eat with in the proper portion sizes and you'll do just fine. Many of the folks I work with now divide their bag of chips or box of crackers into Ziplock baggies to avoid eating the entire contents at one sitting. Below are some good choices for you to try:

• Annie's Bunny crackers

• Sweet potato chips

• Flax chips

• Kale chips

• Non GMO/Organic Corn chips

Organic/No GMO products can be comparatively priced. You can find many varieties at WalMart these days.

Kale chip and sweet potato recipes are also readily available on the internet.

CEREAL

These items are in whole grain form and provide lots of fiber. We all know what fiber helps with. It’s important to the cleansing process. Look for 4 grams of sugar or less in your cereals. Be watchful over your serving sizes. Don’t be tempted by those quick packets of oatmeal that get ready in one minute. You can make your own packets with simple recipe attached and 6 zip lock baggies.

• Oatmeal

• Ezekiel cereal

• Grape Nuts

• Naked FIT Granola
